Class 3 Driving Practical Lesson – Stage 4 Overview
For SSDC, there are 3 subjects for Stage 4. It will be more like a mock test for you to prepare before the actual test. Hence, when you are on the road, you will be going through all the different test routes as well.
All test routes will have a U-turn and I recommended trying all the test routes at least once before your actual exam.
- Subject 31 – Traffic Police Test Checklist
- Subject 32 -Comprehensive Driving
- Subject 33- Pre-Test Assessment
Subject 31 & 32 – Traffic Police Test Checklist & Comprehensive Driving
Your instructor will briefly go through the traffic police test checklist and test you based on the checklist. At the same, it is also important for you to understand what are errors and points awarded in the traffic police test checklist. For Subject 31, you should not score > 30 points or any immediate failure.
Try to use this opportunity in Subjects 31 and 32, to see what are the weakness and common mistakes you always penalized with points.
Different Test Routes
As mentioned before, you should at least attempt once for all the different test routes and try to familiarise yourself with them as much as possible. Each test route will have a different U-turn point etc. So it will be good at least you attempt all the test routes during your lessons and revisions.
I would also recommened you take a look at this Youtube channel from Car Refresher Course where he did a video for all the test routes for 3 different schools. You can watch few of the free test routes. In order to watch all the test routes, there will be a small fees, you need to subscribe the membership.
Subject 33 – Pre Test Assessment
This is the final subject before you proceed with your revision and your practical test. In order to clear this subject, you will need to score less than 18 points without any immediate failure.
My advice will be not to be dishearted if you did badly in this subject, just take it as a learning experience. For me, I failed on my first attempt as I make mistake in my parallel parking and crank course where I strike the curb for the first time in both stations.
In fact, I was quite shocked at first, and at the later stage in the revision classes, I try all the stations in parallel parking and crank course in order to not to make the same mistake again.
Revision Lessons
It will be your revision if you still have practical lessons booked after Subject 33. You can plan and book your revision if you feel that you require more practice while waiting your practical test.
How Many Revision Lessons Do I Need To Prepare For My Practical Test?
It actually depends on individual and also how far away from your practical test.
For me, it is about 3+ weeks away after I completed my last lesson. So I took one revision per week to keep myself refresh even though can be boring doing the same things again and again.
If you think that there are areas that you are weak and need to practice more to familar , you can book more revision if cost is not a major issue.
Anyway, I will feel i rather be kiasu (on the safe side) spend more on revision until you feel confident and comfortable rather than fail the practical test which will eventually cost even more and also on the time spent.
What Should I Do If There is no avaliable slots for me to book for my revision ?
If you unable to get any slots like try-sell from the system. I would recommend the following which I tried that before:
- If you book your practical test from customer service, you can plan and book your revision as well together while you booking your practical test.
- Customer Service as they do have slots especially for those who are taking practical test.
Final Thoughts
Understand that it is not easy you able to come to this stage with all your hardwork and perservance. Sometimes you may also feel that hopefully can get over it as soon as possible. I find this quote below is quite relevant and hopefully can movitate you further
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”
