How To Pass Your Traffic Police Driving Test In One Attempt Only!

In this post, I will be sharing my personal experience of how to pass my traffic police driving test in just one try.

I have shared my experience of my first attempt at my driving test in another article. So today I will be sharing 9 key tips based on my experience & perspective to ace your next driving test in just one attempt only.

1. Be Well Prepared And Familiar with all the routes

While waiting for your TP driving test, you should be very well prepared at this stage. Well-prepared as in you should be familiar and also attempted all the stations in the circuit.

For example, for parallel parking, there will have different stations for parallel parking Therefore, you should at least attempt all different stations as they might encounter different challenges at different stations.

Similarly, for test routes, each different test route has different u-turn points, challenges, and tricky areas that you should take note of. Make full use of your revision lesson to attempt and understand all the test routes if possible If you are uncomfortable with certain test routes, try to attempt more during your revision lesson.

2. Try to book a driving test timing that you are familiar with

For example, if you are comfortable with certain timing like example 9-11 am try to stick to it for your driving test as well. Personally, I would suggest getting a timing that you are comfortable with rather than getting the earliest date but with the timing that you are unfamiliar with.

But for those students who always attend lessons after work like eg. after 7 pm and would recommend getting a non-peak timing like bus lane is over etc. And also if possible try to drive that timing that you booked for during your revision. This is to at least you can have a feel during daytime driving and traffic conditions.

3. To Be Early

Instead of rushing your way to driving school making yourself more stressed. Try to rest early and be early before your warm-up.

The same thing after your warm-up session is that try to wait in the waiting area for your tester instead of letting your tester wait for you. No harm be early and not to give any bad impression to your tester before the test right?

4. Understand The Driving Test Assessment Checklist Well

As mentioned in another article on the TP assessment checklist, it is important to understand what are the common mistakes that usually people and yourself make.

In my case, I did not know that I should not change lanes at the bend, and without knowing, I made this mistake during my driving test.

So I will recommend going through the assessment checklist first before your driving test.

5. Be Confident and Show Your Confidence

Ultimately, the tester would like to see you are able to operate and drive the car safely and also with confidence. You should not panic, try to keep calm.

At the end of the day, no tester would really want to pass someone who looks not confident on the road.

Be more confident like you should not drive at a very slow speed during your test in order to prevent making mistakes.

6. Off Your Mobile Phone To Avoid Any Distraction

Try to off your mobile before you start driving or after showing your PDL to the tester. It would be safer in case there is an urgent phone that keeps ringing or vibrating during your test that affects your concentration.

7. Ask The Tester To Repeat If The Instruction Is Unclear

If you are unable to understand the instruction from the tester, it is important not to assume based on your assumption. You can ask the tester to repeat again politely and confirm the instruction. It is better to understand better than based on your assumption.

8. Be Presentable, Dress Appropriately

Besides being polite to your tester, try to dress appropriately but also comfortably too. Avoid wearing shorts, singlets, or any clothing that looks very sloopy. I believe by wearing appropriately also shows that you are serious and respectful to the tester and for this driving test.

9. Don’t be affected by the tester distraction

During the test, sometimes you may encounter a tester who may try to distract or even be very hostile to you. Try to be calm and focus on your driving.

Take it as sometimes the tester would like to test your patience level as driving really require a lot of patience. Usually, I will just respond back to the tester like “I will take note, sir!” , or “understand, sir” when he trying to shout back
